How is a sports intake system different from a stock airbox?
Sports intake system (Intake System) — thanks to its optimized shape, it allows more air into the engine. Airflow is more linear, and there is less resistance.
These sport intake systems typically include a three-layer foam filter. It filters out fine particles more effectively, is excellent against dust, sand, mud, etc., and can withstand brutal conditions (compared to a stock or cotton filter). It’s easy to clean and cheaper to maintain (just wash it in warm water and re-oil it). In extreme conditions, the foam filter needs to be cleaned or replaced frequently (for example, motocross racers replace their foam filters after every race).
