What makes a performance intake system different from the stock airbox?
A performance intake system allows significantly more air to flow into the engine thanks to its optimized design and geometry. Airflow is smoother and more linear, with reduced restriction, resulting in improved engine response and overall performance.
These performance intake systems typically feature a 2–3 layer foam (polyurethane) filter.
It offers superior filtration of fine particles and performs exceptionally well against dust, sand, mud, and other debris. Compared to a stock or cotton filter, it can withstand much harsher conditions. The foam filter is easy to clean and more cost-efficient to maintain - simply wash it in warm water, let it dry, and re-oil it. In extreme conditions, the foam filter needs to be cleaned or replaced frequently (for example, motocross racers often change their foam filter after every race).
